Do I need a referral?
No — you can contact Little Ocean directly. Referrals from professionals are also welcome with consent.
What happens in the first session?
A chance to get to know each other and understand what's brought you to therapy, at a pace that feels manageable.
How many sessions will I need?
There's no set number — some people need a short course of support, others benefit from longer-term work. We review progress regularly.
How do I know if therapy might help me?
You don't need to be in crisis or have a diagnosis. Feeling overwhelmed, stuck or affected by past experiences are all valid reasons to start.
What if I'm unsure whether Little Ocean is right for me?
You're welcome to contact me first with questions. A good fit matters, and I'll be honest if I'm not the right service for you.
What therapeutic approaches do you use?
A strengths-based, collaborative and trauma-informed approach, drawing on CBT, dyadic work, NMT-informed practice and EMDR, tailored to your needs.
Do you provide EMDR?
Yes — I'm a Full Member of EMDRAA. Trauma work is paced to the individual, with safety and stability established first.
Do you work with children?
Yes, including children who've experienced trauma, anxiety, family violence, separation or significant change — individually, with parents, or dyadically.
Will I be involved in my child's therapy?
Usually, yes, depending on their age and needs — while also respecting their privacy within sessions.
Do you work with foster, adoptive and kinship families?
Yes — particularly around early adversity, attachment, trust and strengthening caregiver-child relationships.
Do you work with neurodivergent children?
Yes, including children with autism and ADHD, using a neurodiversity-affirming approach.
Do you support people after separation?
Yes — for adults and children, covering grief, adjustment, and maintaining stability and relationships through change.
Do you offer telehealth?
Yes, alongside face-to-face appointments in Geelong.
Is therapy confidential?
Yes, with standard legal and professional limits around safety, which will be explained to you.
Can you communicate with my child's school, GP or other professionals?
Yes, with your consent, where it helps create consistency across a child's environments.
What languages do you provide therapy in?
English, Persian/Farsi and Dari.
Is Little Ocean a crisis service?
